As one of the world’s greatest natural wonders, a visit to the Grand Canyon is often at the top of many people’s bucket lists!

It has more than 270 miles of winding river, is approximately 18 miles across and over a mile deep, and certainly has enough attractions and activities to keep you enthralled for days!

You can hike down ancient paths, enjoy the diverse wildlife, and discover hidden wonders with a guided tour.

Plan Your Visit

Your first consideration is how long you intend to stay in the area, to start planning your itinerary. There are plenty of accommodation options available, and several places to eat for a longer stay. The busiest seasons are spring and summer, and you will need to make your lodging reservations well in advance.

Winter still offers pleasant conditions for hiking and is less crowded. However, it is also possible to see all the highlights in just one day.

Exploring the Grand Canyon

You will no doubt start your adventure at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center but do be aware that it closes at 3pm. You can park here, and then take shuttle buses to the main vantage points.

Many of the paths start from here, including The Rim Trail, which follows the edge of the canyon for 12 miles. A shorter walk of two miles takes you to the Historic District where you will find restaurants and shops.

Cultural history is deeply important to the Grand Canyon and you should visit the incredible Native American-inspired watchtower, the Tusayan Ruins, and a museum focusing on the ancient Puebloan people.

Don’t forget to catch the sunrise or sunset when the canyon’s colours come alive in a spectacular display of nature’s beauty. Whether you’re a casual visitor or an avid adventurer, the Grand Canyon promises an unforgettable experience.
