Are you good at singing? Then perhaps joining a local choir could be next on your bucket list.
Not only a great chance to show off your vocal skills, but to meet new friends and take part in shows and events.
This is the ideal option if you don’t have enough confidence to take on solo roles, or have never sung in public before. And now it’s easier than ever before because many TV shows have popularised the idea, leading to new choirs across the country.
Join a Rock Choir
Rock Choirs have become increasingly prevalent and present the opportunity to join like-minded people with the advantage of being taught by a professional. They offer free taster sessions, and you won’t have to audition or be able to read music.
Don’t be fooled by the name, you won’t be performing full-on heavy metal, although certainly there will be some rock songs in the choir’s repertoire.
The music will be well-known hits from across the decades such as California Dreamin’, Don’t Stop Me Now and Footloose.
Finding a Local Choir
There are plenty of resources available online to help you find a local choir, and social media platforms are a good source of information. If you prefer a more formal type of choir, you could make enquiries at your local church.
If you have the enthusiasm for singing, but no ability you could consider joining a Tuneless Choir. These are groups of people who love to sing, with no intention of trying to improve, but just to have fun. In fact, you don’t even have to attend in person, you can join in online!
Don’t restrict your singing to the shower, join a local choir and take pleasure in meeting one of your bucket list goals.
