Organising a family reunion can be a rewarding bucket list task, bringing together people who have not seen each other for quite some time.

However, how can you make the planning and the actual logistics work?

When and Where to Hold Your Reunion?

Finding a location that suits everybody will be your first task, and this is not as easy as it sounds. If your family members live relatively close by, then it’s not so difficult. But if they live in different parts of the world, then you need to consider transport and accommodation. The question of cost also arises, as some people may be reluctant to spend a lot on travelling.

The timing of the event is also important, as you need to ensure everyone is available.

Make Use of Technology for Your Family Reunion

Thankfully, having to wait for the post to arrive to confirm who will be attending is a thing of the past. You can make use of technology and social media to get things done more quickly. Consider setting up a private Facebook group or a WhatsApp group for informal chats. In fact, Facebook can be a great way to actually track down long-lost relatives with whom you have lost touch and who might be interested in a reunion.

If organising a family reunion is on your bucket list, then don’t try and go it alone. Always be prepared to delegate some tasks, and perhaps set up a spreadsheet to keep track of everything. At the end of the day, the easier option might be to set up a virtual reunion through Skype or Zoom!
