Adventures and exploration can cause a strain on the planet’s natural resources, and doing everything that we can to reduce that impact is very important.
Committing to planting 1,000 trees in a lifetime may seem like an impossible task, but it is surprisingly easy to do if you know how to get started.
At Tandem Financial, we have thus far been able to plant 841 trees through monthly Ecologi donations. This is just one aspect of our commitment to becoming carbon neutral and offsetting our small carbon footprint.
Here are just a few ways that you can approach tree planting…
Planting Trees in Your Local Area
If you have a garden or other outdoor space, then your project can begin at home. A few trees may only get you a small part of the way to your goal, but it’s a great way of remaining connected to your objective.
Working With a Charity
Outside of your immediate area, it’s also possible to work with charities such as the National Trust, which run tree planting programmes nationwide.
Trees in some parts of the world can have a greater impact on global environmental issues than others. In these cases, it’s best to work with a reputable charity such as the World Land Trust that can make sure trees are planted where they will have the most significant possible impact.
Leaving a Personal Legacy
Trees can stand for hundreds of years, and planting them is a great way to leave a positive impact on the planet long after you are no longer around.
Planting a tree (or a small forest!) to celebrate a momentous personal event such as a wedding or the birth of a child is an increasingly popular thing to do. This ensures that there is a physical reminder of the occasion that will last for far longer than any card, flowers or another gift.
Planting trees will leave a positive legacy for the planet for many years to come.
It is an excellent way for those of us who love to explore and enjoy adventures to give back to the earth that has given us so much.
Add this to your bucket list today, but don’t think you have to stop there.
At Tandem, we go beyond carbon neutrality, using a heat pump for energy and recycling everything we can (including coffee pods, razor blades and separated plastic, cardboard and paper – though of course confidential documentation is separated and shredded).
